Old Home Renovation: Home Tour in Charlotte, NC

Situated in a mature neighborhood in the heart of Charlotte, North Carolina is a 1940’s original brick home that’s been extended and renovated for today’s lifestyle. The original entrance was unnoticeable and proportionately small. The new portico with a Lantern & Scroll gas lantern gives the home a more grand entrance. With original door hardware and a traditional foyer, this home embraces the original design of the home.

But once you move towards the back of the house, the living space opens up to a large brand new kitchen with an expansive kitchen island, banquette eat in kitchen, adjacent family room and an abundance of natural light. Just off the kitchen is a wet bar area complete with a hidden door to a one-of-a-kind sunroom perfect for a home office or reading nook.

The custom kitchen cabinets lead to another hidden door which opens up into a large pantry and small office space. The original details maintained throughout the home give it a warm cozy feel in the midst of the new construction.

Towards the front of the home a large traditional living room looks out to the double sidewalk streets with tall oak trees. The half bath is designed to make a statement and embodies the saying, small but mighty.

One of my favorite features is the mudroom and laundry area off the side door. The built in cabinets make it the perfect use of space to keep life organized and clean. The home feels spacious and large while still providing intimate spaces.

The brick pavers on the outdoor patio are a perfect material selection to complement the original brick exterior and white siding addition.

Upstairs, the character continues with split steps, a completely updated bathroom with shower tile detailing and an incredible master suite. The large open master bathroom has a standalone soaking tub, large walkin shower, his and her vanities a water closet and plenty of closet space. The rear facing master bedroom provides privacy and natural light.
