How To Restore and Sharpen a Rusty Vintage Chisel

Описание к видео How To Restore and Sharpen a Rusty Vintage Chisel

I found an old Toledo chisel in a hard rubbish dumpster. These were made in Sweden for the Australian market. I have another of these and it is an excellent tool. Swedish steel has a high reputation. Even though this has a banded handle, I doubt I'll ever use a mallet on a tool with such a slender profile. I see this as a paring chisel, not a bench chisel. The blade was rusty and heavily pitted. The handle was stained with a loose brass ferrule. (The timber had shrink.) I found some old images and reproduced the label as a water transfer decal. I hot blued the steel band with cooking oil. I used Dulux Duramax clear gloss lacquer and Meguiar's car wax.
