Electrical steel, also known as Si steel, is an alloy of iron and silicon which have important applications in electrical machines. As the main soft magnetic material of large consumption, it owes its characteristics mainly to the peculiar microstructure and texture regulated by a complex production cycle and the presence of silicon.

In RINA laboratories, we simulate the entire production process of both Grain Oriented and Non-Grain Oriented electrical steel. We also developed mathematical modelling tools to be able to predict the microstructure evolution and final properties of the metal.
