In recent years, Remington has gotten into the handgun business - or rather they've gotten BACK into it. In the black powder era, the Model 1858 and 1875 revolvers were rivals of the contemporary Colt SAA. Later, in 1918, Remington introduced the innovative Model 51 pocket pistol chambered in .32 ACP or .380 ACP. Sleek, compact, and very thin, the 51 seems like an ancestor of the Glock 43X that slipped through a time warp. Brownells Gun Tech and historic firearms "salty dog" Steve Ostrem strips down a Remington 51 and explains how its delayed blowback operating system works. Built around a camming breech block, this system allows for a very light, slim slide. Very ingenious but also very complicated for a pocket pistol!
