"San Diego: America's Finest City?"

My goal with this project was to bring attention to the disparity in living conditions, career opportunities, and social perspectives between people living in the richer areas of San Diego such as La Jolla versus people living in poorer districts such as the Barrio Logan. Although my interviews were with working women in both La Jolla and Barrio Logan, my focus was on the children of these areas that appear in the montages of the neighborhoods. Children do not decide whether they are born into a upper-class family or not, but the sad truth of the matter is that a child born into a well-to-do family in La Jolla has a much better chance of getting a good education and a job that can support a family. While the same opportunities exist for both children, the children in the latter circumstance will have a much more difficult time, to no fault of their own.
