What are Scouts BSA Linked Troops? - Girl Troops?

Описание к видео What are Scouts BSA Linked Troops? - Girl Troops?

For a long time, the structure of the troop has been independent of any other unit. Now with the new linked troop's option, this has changed that. Troops are still not Co-ed and remain independent from the standpoint of the youth. A charter organization may pool resources and leadership to service both boy and girl troops together. This new structure can be confusing to some Scouters resistant to any changes. It's always important to “be prepared” for the changes that Scouting life has in store for us. Always keeping an open mind and willing to try new things is important to a good life in general.

🔑 Show Notes:
• The Boy Scouts of America in 2019 introduced Scouting BSA Troops. Packs and Troops now have girls and boys actively enrolled. “Not Co-ed”. Packs can be single-gendered or have all girl or all boy Dens. Troops are single-gendered (boy or girl).
• Venture crews, see scouts, and explorer posts are all Coed programs.
• There is no difference in any of the rank requirements regardless of gender.
• For the most part, the structure is the same for each troop. There is one exception called linked Troops.
• Linked troops are those troops that share a troop committee.
• A registered and youth protection trained (YPT) adult female (21 or older) must be present at all activities and meetings where female youth are present.
• To provide scouts with equal leadership opportunities. Each individual troop must elect its own Senior Patrol Leader (SPL). Have its own youth leadership structure and operate its own patrol leadership council (PLC).
• Co-ed troops are not permitted.
• A linked troop has a shared Charter Organization and Charter Organization Representative (COR). Shared troop Committee and shared Assistant Scoutmasters between the two troops.
• Each troop develops its own schedule or can't work together.
