SHORT YORKSHIRE TERRIER DESCRIPTION:
The Yorkie is alert, trainable, and insatiably curious, making him a quintessential “big dog in a little dog’s body.” Typically weighing less than seven pounds, Yorkies are the darlings of the purse-dog set, but they also need ample time on the ground. He’ll happily take long walks, and he can be quite a determined — and boisterous — watchdog, as well.

Yorkshire Terriers seem oblivious of their small size. They are very eager for adventure. This little dog is highly energetic, brave, loyal and clever. With owners who take the time to understand how to treat a small dog, the Yorkie is a wonderful companion! It is affectionate with its master, but if humans are not this dog's pack leader, it can become suspicious of strangers and aggressive to strange dogs and small animals.

The standard color combinations are black and gold, black and tan, blue and gold, and blue and tan. Puppies may not display their final coat color until age 3 or older. Yorkshire terriers have a long, straight, and silky coat.

SHORT SILKY TERRIER DESCRIPTION
The Silky terrier is slightly longer than tall, with an athletic build that belies its designation as a toy dog. In fact, the Silky should be built as though it is ready to go hunting for small vermin. The coat is one of the breed's most distinctive features. It is straight, silky and shiny. Rather than flowing to the floor like the Yorkshire terrier's coat, it conforms to the body shape. The color is blue and tan.

When he was first developed in Australia, this breed was known as the Sydney Silky Terrier. The name was changed in Australia to Australian Silky Terrier in 1955. The same year, in the United States, the name was changed to Silky Terrier.
