通りがかりのロードバイクとレースをしているピストライダーの様子とピスト用のペダル解説をお届けします。靴とペダルを固定するとペダルを踏む力だけではなく引き足の力も使えるのでフラットペダルよりも最大限のパワーをペダルに伝え効率的に加速することができるようになります。ただし体力も倍のペースで消費することになります。これは自転車界の常識ですが、ピストバイクに乗る人達の場合は少し状況が違います。ピストバイクが普及する際にメッセンジャーの存在が大きかった。メッセンジャーは自転車の乗り降りや歩く頻度も多いのでペダルがビンディングにならなかった背景があります。日本の競輪ではトゥクリップを用いて靴が全く動かない程ぎゅうぎゅうに締め上げた状態でペダルを踏んでいます。一時停止毎にストラップを緩めるのは大変。ピストバイクのペダルは何を使えば良いのでしょうか。最近頼れるバイクショップを見つけたので色々と教えてもらいましょう。
