This is part 1 of my capture of me playing through Cyber Shadow for the Nintendo Switch. This is a downloadable title from Mechanical Head Games.

Cyber Shadow was recently released on the Switch on January 26, but I was still finishing up my Phantom Hourglass playthrough at that time, so I’m just now posting footage of this game.

I’ve been keeping my eye on Cyber Shadow since shortly after Yacht Club Games announced they would be publishing the title. I had a lot of fun with Shovel Knight, so I figured Cyber Shadow must be good as well based on the footage I saw.

Cyber Shadow feels like a mix between Ninja Gaiden and Shadow of the Ninja, with some noticeable influence from Shatterhand. In short, the game feels like a love letter to the Natsume action games for the NES. Since I grew up with those games in the early ’90s, Cyber Shadow is right up my alley.

I don’t know much about this game, so I will be figuring things out as I go. Even though the controller settings show a run function, so far I haven’t been able to run with my character, meaning that feature probably gets unlocked later on, along with other abilities. I also noticed that there are some hidden areas, similar to Shovel Knight, but I’ll be surprised if I somehow discover all of them.

This game is actually pretty difficult because of your limited horizontal attack and cheap enemy placement. However, there is an auto save feature and checkpoints, so that should help quite a bit. Hopefully I don’t die too much in this playthrough.

In this first part I started a new save file and completed Chapter 1: Geothermal Towers.

Recorded with the Elgato Game Capture HD60 and the Switch's HDMI cable at native 1080p resolution and 60 frames per second. I'm using a Pro Controller.
