One of the signs of the men of God, is how their works bring people together. This anthem, and this specific rendering, has brought so many worlds together, in a manner that could have only happened in a place like Toronto Canada. The lyrics were penned by Abdullah Quilliam, a British Muslim who founded a community in Liverpool UK, shortly after converting to Islam in 1887. This song can be found among many other devotional songs that he composed during his lifetime.

I pray that you enjoy listening to it, even more than I enjoy singing it every single time.

This version of “Anthem For The Prophet (ﷺ)” by Nader Khan & The Blacksmiths features percussion instruments. The Anthem is also available in an acapella version, and we encourage you to buy it and listen to it as well – you just might like one version more than the other.

Also, with the intention of spreading the good, please post your reviews and reactions about it on social media with the hashtags: #AnthemForTheProphet, #ShareTheProphet, #NaderKhan

Lyrics:

Salli Rabbī ‘alā an-Nabi / Shafī’inā Ahmad
Salli Rabbī ‘alā an-Nabi / Mawlānā Muhammad

The people that in darkness dwelt
A glorious light have seen;
God’s prophet now to them hath come
Muhammad, Al Amin (The Trustworthy)

We hail thee, Allah’s Prophet true,
Of prophecy the seal
We read with reverence The Book
Thou wast sent to reveal

For thou the burden did’st remove,
Idolatry’s fell rod;
And in thy day the idols fell
Before the sword of God.

To bless Arabia and the world,
Most surely thou wast raised;
We’ll sing thy praises evermore,
Our Mustapha (The Chosen One), the praised.

We watch this gentle, fostering care
The seed that thou hast sown;
And trust to hear the world declare
God’s prophet as its own.
