Vaginitis, an inflammation of the vagina that can result in discharge, itching and pain, commonly referred to as toilet infections, are a very common problem that can affect anyone.

What you call toilet infection is mostly caused by three different species of organisms,

1) The fungi which is represented by Candida Albicans which is also called Yeast

2) The parasite which is Trichomonas Vaginalis

3) The bacteria which is a conglomerate of bacteria, usually the normal flora bacteria in the urogenital epithelium. When they get distorted by instrumentation or anything, then it loses the protection and this is where opportunistic infections like gardnerella vaginalis will rear their ugly head and end up giving you bacterial vaginosis.

A lot of people who call me with this problems are bashful about disclosing everything about it and end up telling me it is either their roommate or their girlfriend that has the ailment but when I ask for details, they are able to tell me the color, the consistency and even how copious it is without even referring to their girlfriends who are more like phantoms.

Toilet infections are not a sign of poor hygiene or promiscuity. In fact, they can happen to anyone, regardless of sexual activity.
