John Rendall passes away (UK/Global) - ITV London News - 26th January 2022

Farewell to the Lion Man of Chelsea: Socialite who bought big cat in Harrods in the 1960s and famously walked it around West London before setting it free in Kenya and being reunited a year later dies aged 76. The Chelsea-based Australian became well known after he and his friend Anthony 'Ace' Bourke purchased a lion cub from the exclusive department store in Knightsbridge, which traded in exotic animals at the time.

The story spans from Australia where he was born to the UK in the Swinging Sixties and to Kenya and how one lion cub changed his life. He died several days ago and reports are saying he is 76 and others 77 ((some may being using the year and not his actual birthdate) and this will be updated at a later date).

Christian the lion story on YouTube and documentaries is worth the watch, if you are interested. It may have happened a long time ago for some people, but it had long-lasting effects. Lions in the wild in Africa today only number around 20,000 which is not a lot as 1 million species are facing extinction across the world today.
