Devotion (Bhakti) begins with Belief and faith in Supreme power; God. Service to God with pure heart is devotion. Sadguru Shri Sai always insisted and inspired devotees for pure devotion. Bhagvad Bhakti leads to BhagvadPrapti.
Devotion is not limited to rich, poor, caste, creed or religion. Devotion is pure feelings and pure form of emotions that flow in the heart of devotee that confirms his belief and faith in God. Shri Sai said; that everyone has a right to practice devotion according to their religions because God is not limited to one religion but all religion leads into him without any difference and discrimination.
There are four kathas (stories) in this chapter that are educational, devotional and entertaining. These small kathas has deep spiritual meaning and sung in melodious voice and with adorable composition and music.
1. Shri Sai - Chand Patil Katha
Chand Patil was a Muslim from Dhoopkhera village, he lost his horse while going to Aurangabad. He tried to find it for last 3 months without success, so he was very depressed and sad about the great loss, and returning back to his village.
On way back he noticed the young fakir sitting under the mango tree. He narrated his problem to Fakir, who showed him way where he found his lost horse very easily. Chand was amazed to see the miraculous power. Fakir invited him for a smoke and pulled out burning amber of fire from the earth to lighten the Chilam. Again he touched the earth with his stick and water started oozing out from stony ground which he used to wet the cloth to wrap up the hot Chilam. Seeing the divine powers of fakir, Chand Patil bow down to him and addressed as Pir & Pegamber and invited him to his village to stay with him.
2. Shri Sai – Mahalsapati – katha
After reaching Shirdi from DhoopKhera with the marriage crowd, Mahasapati, priest of Khandoba temple at the outskirt of Shirdigreeted Fakir with the Divine word ‘YA-SAI’ meaning “WelcomeSai”. Eventually, the Sai”” name became world famous name and everybody started calling the young fakir as Saibaba.
Fakir entered Shirdi village and stayed for some time under the Neem Tree and then moved toa lonely, ruined and abounded Masjid which Saibaba named first as Masjid mai and later as Dwarkamai, motherlyplace that will protect and take care of her children forever.
3. Shri Sai - Gangagir Katha
Ganagagir was an ardent devotee of Lord Vitthova (Krishna) of Panderpur. He use to undertake pilgrim every year to Pandarpur and on way back he use to stop in Shirdi for Sai darshan.
When he first saw Sai Fakir fetching water from the well and irrigating the LendiBaag. He said to villagers not to ignore the Fakir and said that this Fakir look like Panduranga (Krishna) to him which you do not realize now but will know very soon. After scolding villagers to respect and honour Fakir, he went to meet Saibabain masjid and both were very happy to see and meet eachother.
4. Shri Sai - Vasudevanand - Pundlik Katha
Pundlik Rao, was a renowned person of Nanded. He was given a coconut by a famous Saint VasudevanandSaraswati, as a gift for Saibaba, while he was about to go to Shirdi with his friends. Unfortunately, Pundlik and his friend ate that coconut on the way to Shirdi, completelyforgetting that this wasn’t their coconut but it was a gift from one saint to another saint which they were custodian and supposed to deliver without fail
When enquired by Saibaba,Pundlik was unable to handover that gifted coconut to Saibabahe wanted to buy a new one to replace it. But Sai baba refused to compromise on an ordinary coconut against that precious gift from a great saint of South.Still Saibaba scolded Pundlikfor his mistake but soon he changed and treated him as his child and forgave him for the mistake and instructed to observe honesty in all kind of commitments in life.
