Hear from social innovation futurologist Shivvy Jervis as she discusses the impact of the coronavirus crisis on the future of learning.

London is home to four of the world’s top 50 universities, which provide research and collaboration opportunities for growing startups in this space. London tracks at an impressive second position - standing right behind Silicon Valley - in the prestigious Global Startup Ecosystem Report 2020. This makes it one of the world's most favourable breeding grounds for can-do founders from which to create a potentially global success story.

In edtech, London is the base for some fantastic companies. Startups like Satchel (a bespoke learning platform that allows you to select apps that meet your school’s individual needs), Firefly (giving teachers and students have access to school information online and out of the classroom) and Lingumi (teaches English to kids aged 2 to 6) are fantastic examples of this thriving ecosystem. There’s also Century Tech, an intervention tool that understands each students individual strengths, weaknesses and behaviours and tailors learning content to them individually.

Within this ecosystem of constant innovation, these companies have easy access to incubators that specialise in edtech, such as UCL Educate, which is a pioneering research accelerator aimed at helping innovators in educational technology develop their products and ideas.
