A Journey of Struggle and Hope" / সংগ্রাম ও আশার যাত্রা!

Every year, thousands of families from North Bengal leave their villages in search of livelihood and migrate to various cities across the country. They mainly work in land clearing, plowing, planting, and harvesting potatoes. For this work, they endure grueling labor for five to six continuous months. It is a job where everyone—parents, children—works together in the fields.

During these months, they build makeshift huts near the fields, made of straw and plastic, which are hardly fit for habitation. The walls burn in the heat, water enters the huts during rains, and in the winter, their bodies freeze from the cold. For drinking water, they often have to walk several kilometers, and there are no facilities for toilets or electricity. Despite all the hardships, they never give up.

At the end of these six months of hard work, they earn around 60,000 to 70,000 Taka, which is their only savings. They then return to their village with that money. For them, happiness is not a material possession but a journey—a journey of relentless struggle, which they must continue throughout their lives. In this struggle, they firmly believe that one day they will surely find better days ahead.
