Indigenous Peoples' Front of Manipur's advisor Jagat Thoudam said the present situation in Manipur forces one to hark back to the politics then prevailing between 1947-1949 when people were deprived of the valuable guidance and counsel of a revered figure popularly known as Lamyanba Irabot by the masses after he was ill-advised to join the armed insurrection of the Communist Party of India and moved to Burma.

Even if he was aware that the armed insurrection was wrong and would be withdrawn someday, he was coerced to join it by politically inexperienced youngsters who were members of All India Students' Federation, the students' wing of CPI, then studying in Kolkata, Jagat Thoudam reiterated, stressing that as the politically experienced homegrown Lamyanba Irabot who loved Manipur was kept separated from the masses, Manipur was denied an opportunity to bargain for a special status when it joined India.
Listing the achievements of the CM N Biren-led BJP government such as the implementation of ILP, destroying several poppy plantations under the War on Drugs, the arrests of those involved including village chiefs after poppy plants were regrown despite repeated destruction of the poppy plantations, the prevention of creation of new villages through illegal encroachment in reserved and protected forests, the ban on creating more and more new small villages in the hill areas of the state, the withdrawal from the trilateral suspension of operations (SoO) signed with KNO, KNA, ZRO and ZRA along with the Union government and the resolution of the Manipur government to remove the irresponsible inclusion of any Kukis in the ST list and, most importantly, the identification of refugees from Myanmar by taking their biometric data which is a step taken towards the implementation of NRC, Jagat Thoudam said these are the reasons why outsiders have waged a war against Manipur especially the Meiteis and the people of the state are left with only two choices either to support wholeheartedly the good initiatives taken up by the CM N Biren-led government for helped realizing the goal of protecting the indigenous people of Manipur or keep blaming the state government for letting the outsiders wage a war against the state.

He said those who are sorely blaming the government for the ongoing crisis are the ones who have not taken much participation in measures to protect the state's natives and those who are not well versed with the issues and have not invested much in understanding these issues who are misguided by those who have come from outside the state and have not grown up in its soil but opportunistic self-serving people who are trying to exploit the turmoil in Manipur.
