This recording of the Allemande from Bach’s Violin Partita No. 2 in D minor is mostly intended as a reference performance.

There are many extraordinary recordings of this movement by great soloists. My purpose here is not to compete with those, but to offer a version that reflects how I teach and understand this piece.

The Allemande from Partita No. 2 is a work I teach to nearly every serious student, and it is often the movement I use to introduce players to Bach’s style and to the world of the Six Sonatas and Partitas. Because of that, I wanted to create a recording that students could return to as a musical and stylistic reference.

In the future, I plan to teach certain pieces in depth here on the channel, and this piece will likely be one of the first. This recording is meant to serve as a musical foundation for that work.
