David Berkowitz is a serial killer who in 1976 and 1977 killed six people and wounded many others in New York.

Following his arrest, he was offered many book and movie deals. So a new law was created that prevented convicted criminals from financially profiting from their crimes because murder should never be a career path for anyone.
