“How Music Can Bring Unity" | Joshua McCorkle | TEDxBellarmineU

There is a crisis of understanding, or rather lack thereof, in the world because people cannot see and respect one another’s intrinsic humanity. Following recent police murders of people of color, Joshua began searching for a way to more personally understand parts of the black experience on a deeper level. While he is still searching, he now has a closer understanding, discovered through music. Joshua’s talk shows that, as a fundamental aspect of the human experience, music can provide a lens through which humans can better understand one another and find unity. Joshua is in his final year at Bellarmine, studying music with an emphasis in jazz studies and political science. He is a member of the Bellarmine University Honors Program and a participant in several student jazz ensembles.
