Lieutenant Kanwaljit Singh Johal was born on September 23, 1923 in Jandiala, Jalandhar, Punjab, India. He joined the British Indian Army September 1943 with the Indian Signal Corps and served in the Burma Campaign during WW2. He joined the theatre of war in 1944 following his training and helped the Allies defeat the imperialist Japanese Forces. Following WW2 and India's Independence, he continued serving with the Indian Army until 1968. This short documentary tells Lt. Johal's story.

In WW2, the British Indian Army saw action on almost all fronts including: Europe (Italian Campaign),
Asia-Pacific (Burma Campaign,
Malayan Campaign, Hong Kong Defense,
Dutch East Indies),
Africa (East Africa Campaign,
North Africa Campaign),
Middle East (Iran & Iraq, Syria - Lebanon Campaign),
Mediterranean (Greece & Crete).
This ties in with Promises Movie which focuses on the Italian Campaign in Monte Cassino.
