Heavy Cavalry Sword vs Light Cavalry Sabre Sparring (on foot)

Описание к видео Heavy Cavalry Sword vs Light Cavalry Sabre Sparring (on foot)

Two beastly cavalry swords from the Napoleonic era. The system of British military swordsmanship that we practice is for infantry, but it was intended for all military swords when used on foot. That ranges from spadroons to infantry sabres, cutlass/hanger, and of course, cavalry swords when used dismounted.
These swords have more reach than our typical infantry swords, but are also heavier and much more unwieldy. Rick (left) starts with the straight heavy cav. It is based on the modified/shortened spear pointed versions of the 1796 heavy cavalry sword. Nick begins with the sabre, which accurately represents the 1796 light cavalry (troopers) sabre.
Nick is also testing out the new SPES 'Officer' jacket.
