When looking at potential causes of rising damp and rotten suspend timber floors we have to think about drains. The amount of water that run through these is considerable, and when a defect occurs it's likely to saturate the adjacent ground around it.

This video is from a damp and timber survey in Wiltshire. Unfortunately the previous damp diagnosis was wrong, and damp and timber decay issues persisted.

Surveyors always mention about looking up to see if there is a cause of damp issues, but we all need to keep it simple and think about the value of a CCTV drain survey also, that potentially shows the defects below ground.

I know of many great firms around the Country that offer fair price drain surveys, that could potentially save you a few quid in fixing your damp issues.
