Описание к видео КОМЗ (KOMZ) Б7х30 "Секунда" (Second) | Russian Military Binoculars | Fernglas | бинокль

Manufacturer: KOMZ (Kazansky Optiko-Mekhanichesky Zavod), Russia
Application: Military
Era: Modern
Magnification: 7x
Objective Lens Size: 30mm
Field of View: 8,5° - 150m at 1000m
Specifics: The Б7х30 is the original military version of the civilian BPO 7x30, which is more common as a result. The old version of the BPO 7x30 has the same eyepieces like the Б7х30 with the internal focus and twist-up eyecups. The newer version of the BPO 7x30 has an external focusing system with rubber eyecups, which is also found on the BPO 10x42.

The military version is also referred to as "Секунда", which translates to "Second". I haven't been able to find out anything about the background to this naming so far. I am very grateful for any hints.

An interesting feature of the B7x30 is that the prism housings have a solid cover. This cannot be seen in the video because the rubber armor is above it. Unfortunately, the rubber armouring is a weak point in these binoculars, as the suspension breaks over time. Without the rubber armouring, the civil versions appear very "naked" and incomplete. This is not the case with the military version with its solid cover of the prism housings.

Even if these binoculars have a slightly yellow image, their optical properties are outstanding. The eyepiece design is very sophisticated with 7 elements in a 2-1-3-1 configuration. Below I have linked the articles on this binocular by Holger Merlitz and Fan Tao:
