We've spent multiple Halloweens in Salem, MA. It is absolutely a bucket list type of trip that we think is totally worth making at least once in your life! That said, we are also well aware that A LOT of other people are going to try to make that very same trip, meaning the hotels are going to book up. Our first piece of advice is to book EARLY if you know you are going to make the trip to Salem for Halloween. Our second piece of advice would be to stay outside of the city of Salem itself to avoid the price gouging that occurs during this time of year. For instance, you'll find two-star hotels in Salem proper charging upwards of $1,000 a night, but there are better hotels as little as ten to thirty minutes away that will save you 2/3 the cost! Massachusetts is a small state, so take advantage of those nearby accommodations to both save some money and to get better value out of your stay! In this video, we provide you with our selection for two great hotels that we enjoyed when visiting Salem for Halloween - the Winthrop Arms & The Hotel Marblehead.
Pro Tip: Take an Uber from the hotel to Salem. Parking is limited in the city and driving yourself could turn into a nightmare at the end of the night if you get stuck in traffic trying to leave to leave at the same time as everyone else. And if you are someone who says "But Uber is expensive," here's some math to help: You can pay around $1,000 a night to stay in Salem at a 2-Star hotel, OR you can pay around $300 to stay at a 3-Star hotel and then take an Uber to and from Salem for (let's assume there is some price gouging going on) around $80 each way. Would you rather pay $1,000 for one night or $460 (with better accommodations)? We think the choice is clear, which is why we are pointing viewers toward places like The Hotel Marblehead (where Adam Sandler filmed for Hubie Halloween) and The Winthrop Arms (with amazing chicken pot pies called Doc's Pot Pie). Obviously the equation changes if you can find a good accommodation in Salem for cheaper (good luck!). Whatever you decide to do, we think the trip is definitely worth it!

Who are Josh and Inez?!
Josh is originally from the San Francisco, California area, though his family moved many times during his childhood (including to Virginia, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas). Inez was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. We found each other in 2016, after we both moved to the Austin, Texas area for college, and married in 2018! Inez worked in education and Josh in the legal field. We have since embraced our love of travel as a couple and we now seek to share those travels with you on YouTube!
While planning one of our recent trips, Josh found it difficult to locate resources that would provide a "real look inside" of certain hotels, restaurants, and unique experiences. Without this information, Josh found it difficult to know whether the hotels, restaurants, or experiences on his short list were "worth the money/effort" or whether the seemingly curated scraps of information he could find painted an unrealistic portrait of same. As a result, we started this travel channel so that we could share our travel experiences with you in order to provide you, our viewers, with that much coveted "real look inside." In doing so, we hope to answer any questions you may have regarding the hotels, restaurants, and experiences we feature on our channel, that way you can decide for yourself whether any of these places are worth your time or money when planning your own travels.
Our First Season creating YouTube videos was a learning experience as neither of us previously knew how to film or create videos. We are currently working on Season Two and we look forward to continuing to grow as creators and to continuing to provide others with helpful information that may help them in planning their own travels.
