Before the internet, radio peeps traded airchecks of their favorite air personalities, mostly on cassette tapes. This is a radio aircheck from Tom Kent. Or, in this case, Truckin' Tom Cookin' Kent, KLIF in Dallas, 1975. Hot rockin', flame throwin' Top 40 energy at its finest! I got this from a co-worker in 1989. I couldn't find it anywhere else so I uploaded it. I had to edit out a bit he did over the song "Ballroom "Blitz" by Sweet, as it must feature too much of the song, violating copyrights.

Tom was from Winston-Salem, NC, and started at WAIR using the name "Kent Newton". He also worked at WHBQ, Memphis, WIXY, Cleveland, WIBG, Philadelphia, WMXJ, Miami, WLS, Chicago, WBZZ, Pittsburgh, WAVA, Washington, WRQC, Cleveland, and probably a couple of others.

From 1990 - 2004, he was the Midwest Promo Manager for Elektra Records.

More recently, he owned the syndication service the Tom Kent Radio Network, with hundreds of affiliates.

Tom passed away on June 24, 2024. He was a great talent but a better person.
