The research in Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) as it relates to stem cells shows about an eight fold increase in both mesenchymal stem cells and central nervous system stem cells.

However, the overwhelming majority of that research has been done at higher pressures, 2.0 ATA or above.

Does HBOT mobilize stem cells below 2.0 ATA, such as a 1.3 ATA in a soft chamber?

There was a research project done in 2023 to answer this very question.

Kent McLaughlin at the University of Wisconsin used mild pressures, the soft chamber, and air only.

So, this was a 1.3 ATA, 21% oxygen, and ten session protocol.

He attempted to keep things as consistent as possible and tried to mimic one of the higher pressure studies as closely as he could. That way he could maintain similar variables, measurement techniques, and keep it over a similar time period.

Over the course of these ten sessions, they found between a 2.5 and 3 times increase in mobilized stem cells.

The next question might be, "Well, what about 1.5 or 1.75 on air or on oxygen?"

The answer is we don't know yet.

However, we could start to understand that at the lowest pressures, we have a 2.5 to 3 times, and at higher pressures we have about an eight fold increase... And so, these different pressures and different percentages of oxygen are most likely going to end up filling in somewhere in between those two goalposts.
