*A real number α, will be a root of the quadratic equation ax²+bx+c=0[a, b, c are real numbers and a≠0] if aα²+bα+c = 0. That is, in that case x=α satisfied the quadratic equation ax² +bx+c=0.

Take for example, x²+x-132=0 ..........(i)
Let me see what I get by putting x = 11 and x=-12 in quadratic equation (i).
Putting x = 11 and x=- 12 on the left side of the quadratic equation(i) we get, (11)²+11-132 = 0 and (-12)²+(-12)-132=0

That is, the values ​​x = 11 and x=-12 satiesfied the quadratic equation.

11 and -12 are called the roots of quadratic equation no (i). This x=11 and x=-12 are the solutions of the Quadratic equation no (i).
