In this week’s edition of The Middle East Report, Simon Barrett interviews David
Nekrutma, a New Yorker and an Orthodox Jew who has pioneered Jewish – Christian
relations. He shares his remarkable story of growing up in a secular Jewish family in New York, to how his life radically changed after joining a Jewish Orthodox school. There he and his family found a deeper connection to God and their Jewish Faith. David tells us the
story of how he came to work for the Israeli Consulate in New York and how representing the Israeli government was asked to attend a charismatic Spanish Church that had a night to honour Israel changed his life.

He was then put in charge of Jewish – Christian relations at the consulate and started his
pioneering work of developing closer Jewish Orthodox ties to the evangelical Christian
community. His claim to fame is that he is the only Orthodox Jew that has graduated with a degree in theology from the evangelical Oral Roberts University in the States.

In 2005 he made Aliyah to Israel, where he continued to build bridges between the Israeli religious community and Evangelical Christians. He discusses why Christians need to
follow Paul and be more Christlike to have an impact on society and culture and be better advocates for Israel.
