Last summer, Charlie and I met up to film in a place called Black Point near Novato. It's a narrow, hilly area off Highway 37 that's serviced manually on Tuesdays with their mini trucks. We were glad to catch recycle, given that a good amount of residents still use cool PODC manual tubs/crates, as well as Rubbermaids and a couple oddballs like a neat yellow LABOS tub! Also, if you pay attention to a couple panoramic shots I included, you'll see that there's a purple lagoon near these streets... I'm still wondering why it's that color, sure was weird to see! We were able to follow along on almost the entire route and get a good amount of footage of some manual action, which really isn't something you see from Recology these days since most routes are automated - this area is kept manual since it's too tight for automated trucks to operate in. It's worth noting that the driver, a very friendly woman who's driven for Alhambra water for decades before she switched over to Recology, was brand new to this area and type of truck, let alone to the company, when we filmed this - so props to her for expertly maneuvering this route!
