Joey Cape gehört zu den bekanntesten Punkrockern der kalifornischen Melodic Hardcore-Szene. Mit zwei seiner Bands, Lagwagon und Me First And The Gimme Gimmes, prägte Joey Cape entscheidend den Westküsten-Sound mit. Am 13. September 2017 war er ein letztes Mal im Underground Köln zu Gast, da diese Location ja leider inzwischen nach 30 Jahren seine Pforten schließen musste.

Bereits seit 2008 ist Cape auch als Solokünstler unterwegs. Seine Songs sind klassische Singer/Songwriter-Musik, begleitet von Gitarre, Klavier und Cello. In seinen Texten verarbeitet er Gefühle wie Trauer und Wut und wird mit jedem Album persönlicher.

Bei seinem Konzert im Kölner Underground wurde Joey Cape von Zach Quinn (Pears), Brian Wahlstrom (Scorpios) und Donald Spence (Versus The World) begleitet.
