The Stop the Violence team is pleased to invite member organisations to a virtual workshop on safeguarding and child protection as part of 16 Days of Activism.

Safeguarding is an action or series of actions taken to protect children from harm. Child protection is a part of safeguarding. This webinar workshop will include expert speakers and provide practical examples of how to create a strong policy within your guiding organisation.

The webinar was aimed at leaders of member organisations that currently do not have a safeguarding policy or wish to know how to strengthen an existing policy and to give leaders the confidence to know how they can support a child who is being harmed or is at risk of being harmed.

Speakers:
Coralie Mercier
Coralie has been working in the humanitarian sector for over 12 years. Throughout this time, she has worked as Program Manager, Field Manager, Deputy head of Mission in Asia, Africa, Europe, Middle East and South America. she has participated actively in coordination in protracted, sudden onset and complex emergencies. She has worked in both natural disaster and conflict settings working with IDP’s, refugees and host communities. Since 2018, she has worked as a Safeguarding specialist for three international NGOs. She has supported 3 HQ offices, 8 network head offices and 59 field operations with the implementation of risk-reduction and abuse-handling measures as set out in the Code of Conduct, in the policy on the Protection against sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment (PSEAH) and in the Child Protection policy.

Ariadna Bonomi
Ariadna has been working for the Ministry of Social Development of Argentina for 11 years. She works with people who have suffered gender violence, members of the LGBTIQ + collective and people in situations of social vulnerability. In her Association, Asociación Guías Argentinas, she served as Head of Relations with the Society until October of this year. Currently, she is the head the Diversity and Gender Committee of my Association and I am working on setting up an Accompaniment Committee to give advice in cases of child abuse or violence.
