Before moving to Idaho, I daydreamed about spending time in the Sawtooth Wilderness, summiting some of the peaks. But by the time summer had come to an end, I had been on the one backpacking trip in which I failed to summit Snowyside Peak, and that's it (I'm always mountain biking instead)!

In researching possible hikes, Norton Peak looked like a good one for a day hike, versus many of the peaks that pretty much require an overnight backpacking trip due to the long approach into the wilderness area.

Unfortunately at this time, there was a LOT of smoke in the air from the Oregon wildfires. I guess that means I'll just have to go back and do this one again!
