This product is primarily designed for indoor training. So as we know triathletes, most of them come from a biking or running background and not particularly good at swimming, and they need to allocate a large proportion of their training time to the swim leg, which is their weakest link during a race.
They wish to train indoors during the off season, and because many of the events they actually compete in they use a wetsuit, they like to try and replicate those training hours similar to that during the race.
This product of course is not a full suit, it’s only a jammer, so we don’t have any problems with overheating. But at the same time, we still replicate the same feeling of buoyancy for the swimmer during the training through the core area of the hips and the upper legs. So the swimmer is allowed to replicate wetsuit use in the indoor pool.
We can see that we have firstly two types of materials. Now these neoprenes come from Yamamoto in Japan which are considered the most, the best quality one can get on the market, and firstly we have the upper part of the jammer plus the upper legs in Aerodome. Aerodome is a three-level construction, sandwich construction, which traps air in between those layers, providing for the best buoyancy available. The back of the legs is finished off in a 3 mm neoprene, allowing for more flexibility.
The product also has around the waist, it has a draw cord, and of course this allows the user to make it really sit well on the body and to ensure that it doesn’t move at any time during training.
In addition, these Yamamoto materials are coated on the surface and this coating makes it glide better through the water, so least resistance, and also makes the neoprene more durable. Lastly, we also have very prominent branding down the side, both sides of the product, OK, and that branding obviously, if this product was to be used in outdoor training, it’s a visibility tool, so you can be spotted easily, but also in the pool training, it’s also good and easy for coaches to watch swimmers where they can see the rotation of the swimmer. So obviously every time the swimmer rotates the logo comes out of the water and the trainer, or the coach, can measure the amount of rotation to see if he’s under-rotating or over-rotating.
So the arena Neoprene Jammer, a product providing some great benefits for open-water swimmers and triathletes.
