Sarah Boone Takes the Stand in Hearing Ahead of Suitcase Murder Trial

Sarah Boone testified in a motions hearing Wednesday ahead of her trial. Boone’s defense team made arguments that Boone’s statements to investigators after her boyfriend’s murder were done so out of coercion and trickery. The Florida woman is accused of zipping her boyfriend, Jorge Torres, up inside a suitcase and leaving him to die; Torres suffocated to death. Boone originally told investigators they were playing hide-and-seek and that she fell asleep, forgetting Torres was inside. During hearings leading up to her trial, Boone’s defense team plans to argue she acted in self-defense, saying she exhibited patterns of battered spouse syndrome.

Florida woman Sarah Boone is accused of killing her boyfriend after she allegedly zipped him up inside a suitcase and left him to die. Jorge Torres Jr. suffocated to death inside Boone’s Winter Park home. Boone claims they were playing hide-and-seek, she forgot he was inside the suitcase, and she fell asleep. Video evidence from the night of Torres Jr.’s death shows the victim inside the suitcase yelling for help while Boone records the video and laughs. Boone called 911 the next day saying her boyfriend was dead. She was arrested for second-degree murder.
