Whats good everyone for this episode I am going to start my pattern up the middle of the ice rather than along the boards. This is just a different way of doing things. Typically at our rink we start along the player benches or the penalty boxes. Switching back and fourth to shift the overlap point. By starting up the middle of the ice that overlap point is shifted to the deep corner.

Other than the first part nothing too special here. After the first lap it’s like going around the outside once then heading up the middle.

Important things to note is make sure you get the conditioner down, blade set and water going before turning up the middle of the ice. With this pattern I float behind the goal line then head up the middle over the crease. Also with setting up the first pass; make sure the pass is not sloppy looking. As with all cuts, the first pass sets up the second one and so on. Perhaps error a little to the left side of the crease, it just works better at the end.

This pattern can also be started from the other end of the rink.
