Matt Parrish - Coworker's Funeral

Matt Parrish has worn many hats throughout his life. Electrician, musician, fisherman, podcaster, small business owner, husband, father… and the list goes on. I first met Matt in Houston, TX when he and his former band, Market Junction, were playing on the outside patio on a Wednesday night at the Redneck Country Club. I stayed until their set was finished and then chatted with them for awhile. After that the wife and I found ourselves catching them live anytime we could.

I first heard Matt play Coworker’s Funeral, when it was still a work in progress, at the Mucky Duck in Houston. What an interesting idea for a song. “Just outside everything feels so alive, I guess the world has no time to stop and wait.” After attending my fair share of funerals last year, this line hits me right in the feels.
