Before prep for 2026 New Year's celebration kicked off, I have a window for a planned chill flight to about 8-9km.

But the last day of 2025 have some other plans. Thick clouds have enveloped Mt. Banahaw, so I can only go up to about ~7km. No matter, that's fine. It's better than being cooped up inside and I'm already out early. I'll just gonna do some tree-top surfing. But oh boy, how it got derailed fast when I got up near the cloud base!

Visibility plummeted fast. FPV camera got wet and I can't see much. I have an option to dive down, with very high risk of losing a drone, along with the action cam, being blind and a bit disoriented. Or rely on Betaflight's GPS Rescue to bring the drone back. What followed is ~5mins of cloud ride and butt clenching, closely watching the distance from home count down.
