Jordan Pond & The Bubbles

Описание к видео Jordan Pond & The Bubbles

Jordan Pond is one of the most popular and iconic locations within Acadia National Park. Jordan Pond is a clear oligotrophic (low nutrient level) pond. It's notable for it's clarity and it's also the deepest pond in the National Park with a depth of 150 feet.

The trail we hiked is roughly a 3.3 mile path that circles the entire pond. This trail offers beautiful views of the water and the surrounding park. We did take the Bubbles Trail detour.

The Bubbles are two distinctive mountains, North and South Bubble, commonly referred to as "The Bubbles" Generally these peaks provide a picturesque backdrop to Jordan Pond however the day we hiked The Bubbles it was foggy and there was not a view at all. But still very beautiful up top.

Swimming is not permitted in Jordan Pond to protect it's clarity and delicate ecosystem. It is a popular spot for canoeing and kayaking.

Jordan Pond is a critical habitat for various species. It's pristine condition is partly due to the fact that it's watershed is mostly contained with the national park, which minimizes pollution from external sources.

Jordan pond is accessible by car with parking located near the Jordan Pond House. The parks shuttle system also has stops near the pond, making it very convenient for visitors.

If you're planning a trip to Acadia National Park, Jordan Pond is certainly a must-visit location, both for it's natural beauty and for the recreational opportunities it provides.

The Bubbles are named for their unique, rounded shape, which makes them look like two bubbles rising from Jordan Pond. The two peaks are named individually as "North Bubble" and "South Bubble."

South Bubble is famous for "Bubble Rock," a large boulder that appears precariously perched on the edge of the mountain. Geologists believe this is a "glacial erratic," meaning it was transported and deposited in its current location by glacial ice. Many visitors find it hard to resist taking a picture pretending to push this massive rock off the edge.

Given their unique shape, The Bubbles are among the most photographed features in Acadia National Park.

If you ever visit Acadia, a hike up one or both of The Bubbles is a delightful way to spend a few hours, and you'll be rewarded with some of the best views the park has to offer!
