Miko Peled was born in Jerusalem in 1961 into a prominent Israeli family. His maternal grandfather, Dr. Avraham Katsnelson, was a signer of Israel's Declaration of Independence, and his father, Mattityahu "Matti" Peled, was a decorated general in the 1967 Six-Day War who later became a vocal advocate for peace and dialogue with the PLO.
Initially serving in the Israeli military, Miko Peled's views profoundly shifted, particularly after the tragic death of his niece in a 1997 suicide bombing. This event spurred him to re-examine his deeply ingrained beliefs and become a human rights activist. He is now a prominent author and speaker, advocating for a single, democratic state with equal rights for Israelis and Palestinians.

We are also joined by Ajamu Baraka:

Ajamu Baraka's work spans four decades and is rooted in the Black Liberation Movement, anti-apartheid struggles, and Central American solidarity efforts. He is a prominent figure in the human rights movement, advocating for the application of international human rights frameworks to social justice issues within the U.S. He served as the founding executive director of the US Human Rights Network (2004-2011) and has held leadership roles with organizations like Amnesty International USA, the Center for Constitutional Rights, and Africa Action.
In 2016, Ajamu Baraka gained national prominence as the Green Party's nominee for Vice President of the United States, running alongside Jill Stein. He is currently the national organizer for the Black Alliance for Peace and is a contributing columnist and editor for the Black Agenda Report. Baraka's political views are often described as far-left, and he is a vocal critic of U.S. foreign policy, capitalism, and systemic racism.
