No Relief For Cash-Strapped Pakistan; Talks With IMF For Release Of $1 Billion Loan Tranche Fails

In a major setback to Pakistan, Imran govt has failed to strike a financial agreement with International Monetary Fund. Talks between Pakistan and the IMF for the release of $1 billion loan have reportedly failed. So far, only $2 billion has been disbursed in two years. The 6th review talks were held for the disbursement of the next loan tranche of $1 billion. Pakistan has not been able to strike a staff-level agreement in discussions that continued from October 4 to 15.
