Danube Sea to Source Update: The Boat to the Black Sea

Stage 1 complete. This was always going to be the quiet before the storm. You can’t run to the Black Sea coast here. It’s water all the way through the Danube Delta to Sulina - the closest town to where the Danube flows into the sea. So I had to take a boat. ⁣
⁣
But what I hadn’t expected was a day full of so much positive energy from all the people I met. Including the Tulcea town council Vice President, the wonderful Ioanna who has helped me enormously to get here. Dragos who fed me at his lovely restaurant and Vali who gave up his time to show me Sulina and film my Black Sea wading! ⁣
⁣
It’s been like getting a great big hug. And the perfect send off. Forget carbon running shoes, I’m running on a springboard of kindness. ⁣
⁣
Which is fortunate because tomorrow the real business starts.
