Rare Chinese painting expected to fetch more than $50 million at auction

(30 Aug 2018) A rare Chinese painting will be auctioned in Hong Kong with an estimate in excess of 51 million US dollars.
Auction house Christie's unveiled the painting on Thursday in Hong Kong, for a press preview.
It's a scroll featuring calligraphy and ink-brush images made by Su Shi, a famous scholar, writer and poet of China's Song Dynasty, together with details from another admired Chinese artist and poet Mi Fu.
The ink-on-paper scroll depicts tree branches standing alongside an odd-shaped rock.
The text on the scroll are colophons by different artists, including Mi Fu.
