We begin at the foot of the shore. The sparkle of the sun on water glistens all around us, dancing on our skin. The air is thick with spray and the little shards of light reflect off the crests of waves. We shine in the light of day.

We glide along the surface of the water now, moving with the rhythm of the waves. The wind licks our face. The sun is gradually fading in the sky, changing the color of the flickering light. We follow the trail of the setting sun. All around is calm and majesty, as we gently slip below the surface. The water will take us.

We sink now, deep into the ocean’s maw. A tiny submersible - delivered into the depths of the dark, inky sea. Down. Down. Down. Our body flows, languid and staring. No light, only muted echoes and flickers of shadow. A pulse. An intoxicating breath, pulling us to the abyss. But we must not surrender.

We begin our ascent to the surface of the water now. The sea shoves us off, like the tiny grain of sand we are. We hear the sound of the crashing waves upon the earth once again. The sun has fallen further, as the day closes with a seam of fire. Eyes are awake like a newborn child, and the wind begins to howl…
