The South African trade union COSATU members will join with the Palestine Solidarity Campaign and other unions and solidarity organizations to protest at the US embassy and consulates the US support in weapons and funds for the genocide by Israel. The action will take place on November 29, 2024 which is the United Nations Day Of Solidarity With Palestine.
Martin Jansen, who is a leader of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign and with the Worker World Media Productions is interviewed about this action, the history of the South African Palestine solidarity movement and the role of the US in supporting the apartheid Zionist regime. He also talks about the US government funded National Endowment For Democracy NED. There has been a battle in South Africa about NED which is funding a conference and had received support from foundations connected to Tutu. NED funds the operations of the AFL-CIO Solidarity Center and the AFL-CIO during the apartheid regime in South Africa supported Zulu chief Buthelezi. The CIA through the AFL-CO international operations gave over $1 million to Buthelezi which was used to train and arm his military armed thugs. They were used to terrorize and murder trade unionists in KwaZulu Natal who were organizing unions and later became part of COSATU. The AFL-CIO was covertly supporting both the apartheid regime and the Zionist state and the racist union Histadrut who they continued to have relations with. The US AFL-CIO continues to be directly affiliated with the Histadrut and has supported continued US military aid to Israel for the genocide in Gaza and the oppression of Palestinian workers and the continued seizure and occupations of Palestinian lands.
