Installing a Second AC on an RV or Camper | Bedroom Air Conditioner Unit Install on Fifth Wheel

Installing a second AC over our RV bedroom to keep the camper cooler. After our first rv ac replacement (when our original unit stopped working) we knew we could easily add another ac unit onto our fifth wheel, since the bedroom was already prewired for a second unit. We were living in Florida in the middle of summer and the single a.c. was just struggling to keep up by itself. We were trying to help keep the RV cooler without the ac running all day. We moved the original Dometic Brisk II 13,500 BTU air conditioner to the bedroom and installed a new Dometic Brisk Evolution 15,000 BTU over the living space.

*Note: We did not screw the panel into the ceiling of the rv (inside the bedroom). A few people have noted that may cause more dust to enter the filter, as it sets through the small spaces since the panel isn't fully flush with the ceiling, so you may want to go ahead and screw your panel into place.

Because the bedroom unit in our fifth wheel isn't controlled by the thermostat we needed an air conditioner control panel for that unit. We got the Dometic air distribution kit with manual control.

All in all, from the second rv a.c. install to adding the air conditioner control panel, it was fairly easy to DIY. We are grateful to have two air conditioners in the camper and it definitely helps to keep the fifth wheel a lot cooler!!
