Custom Plywood Reception Desk and Bookshelf - Easy DIY Desk Build

Описание к видео Custom Plywood Reception Desk and Bookshelf - Easy DIY Desk Build

LATITUDE is a nonprofit community digital lab in Chicago that is home to a digital lab with high-end printing and scanning equipment, hosting an artist in residence program, and organizes ongoing arts programming. They approached me about making a new reception desk for their space that would divide the art gallery up front from the lab space in the back. In the end, after a couple of design draws and consultations, we ended up using a cabinet-grade birch veneer plywood for the entire build.

This video does not go into deep detail on the creation of the desk unit, but does show the dowel-pin process I used to join the pieces together. Some screws were also added in key areas to help the stability and sturdiness of the unit, but used sparingly as we did not want to detract from the grain of th plywood.

You can modify this design or your own needs, but definitely use a thicker plywood for you material. This project is using 3/4" (19mm).

Special thanks to LATITUDE for the opportunity to make this build. Visit them at latitudechicago.org.
