The 2019 action-comedy Detective Pikachu was a box office hit with fans. The idea of bringing the Pokemon franchise into the world of live-action was a risky move but with the CGI technology we have today, the direction of Rob Letterman, and the voice acting of Ryan Reynolds, the movie proved to be super popular so there's no wonder fans are calling for a Detective Pikachu 2.

We know studio Legendary is currently passing around ideas for a whole package of Pokemon live-action films and it’s likely that most of these will be centered around the characters we saw in Detective Pikachu. But, before Legendary dives in with character spin-off movies, the production studio is set to follow up with Detective Pikachu 2. The first live-action hit didn’t leave a direct opening for a sequel so here are our Top 5 pitches for what we want to see in Detective Pikachu 2.

NEWS ABOUT THE PROJECT 📰
Detective Pikachu 2 will be a Nintendo Switch exclusive game and is the sequel to Detective Pikachu. It was announced on May 10, 2019. No further information has been released about the game as of early 2021.

Updated on 5 May 2021. Plans for a Detective Pikachu film sequel were in the works following the successful launch of Pokémon's live-action big screen debut but now, on the film's second anniversary, we have our clearest indicator yet we won't see a Detective Pikachu 2 after all.
