This is a Trick Tutorial on How to Train your Dog to Fetch his Leash. It covers:
Getting your dog interested in the leash (You want fetching the leash to be a fun thing to do rather than a chore so I suggest playing tug-of-war and having him play fetch with it as it gets him to use his mouth and have fun with it)
Training him to pick the leash up in his mouth (If you do the above, it will cover this)
Training him to fetch the leash (Sometimes when you have done step #1, your dog will just mouth the leash, but he won't fetch it. Reward him for putting his mouth on it, but after he consistently does that, make him do more before, like picking it up and eventually, bringing it to you before he gets the reward)
Training him to get the leash from a distance (gradually build up distance and various locations so that he will be able to fetch it from anywhere, at any distance)
TROUBLESHOOTING- correcting problems that may occur (like mouthing or biting the leash on walks- Stop walking and correct him for biting it. Only Reward biting and fetching the leash when YOU tell him to.)

It would be best if your dog knows Fetch and especially, Give or Drop it before learning this trick.

Tonya is trained with Positive Reinforcment which basicaly means that she is rewarded in a positive way either in the form of a treat or play for doing something correctly.
