This is my reenactment gear for the 4th US Infantry, SOSKAN (Southern Skirmish Association) - the oldest American Civil War reenactment group outside of the USA.

Please note:

Undergarments, which I forgot to mention in this, were a white linen or cotton shirt (for regulars - volunteers might have different colours and checks) and cotton drawers under the trousers.

The cap pouch should be worn on the right side, not the left (where the bayonet scabbard would go), as incorrectly shown here.

Most regulars would carry a Springfield Model 1861 not an Enfield Model 1853, which was more a weapon of the Union volunteers and Confederates. The one in this is just a Denix replica, not for proper reenactments.

The knapsack should not sag down as much as it is in this video. When it is full, the rolled up greatcoat or bedroll does not weigh it down like this.
