The STUNNINGLY beautiful Écryme is finally available in English, and it’s unlike any RPG I’ve ever read. Imagine vast cities and decaying bridges suspended over a corrosive sea, a society ruled by Konzerns, Lodges, and duels of honor, and a character system rooted in Baudelaire’s Spleen and Ideal. Add in mesmerist science, cephalic powers with dangerous backlashes, and you have a game that blends philosophy, literature, and roleplay in ways I didn’t think possible. Feeling lost? In this video I "dive" into the corroded, steampunked, uchronic (?) world of Écryme, explain how its unique mechanics work (confrontations, cephaly, impacts), and explore its themes of melancholy, corruption, and fragile ideals. This is not just another fantasy setting — it’s a roleplaying game about surviving in a decadent world and testing how much of your Ideal can endure before Spleen overwhelms it. Apparently this was two years in the translation to English and ⁨@opensesamegames1793⁩ did a HELL of a nice job.
